Hello, I'm Elena
I work as a project manager. I am a parent. An expat based in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t in the master plan. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and different expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more tangled than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Created Simple Stone Home
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- An official tourism authority resource
- Paid-review platform
- Just a generic travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Switzerland goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will continue recording our discoveries.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
Elena
